Pastors will also help arrange appointments for counseling at Lutheran Social Service, where trained counselors provide help for personal issues.
The pastors can also direct you to counseling at the NEW FOCUS program, which provides biblically-based financial counseling. The pastoral staff at CTK can also help you to make contact with other agencies, some of which are listed on this page. If you need help, call. | Christ the King Lutheran Church works with all of these agencies to help meet human needs.
VINE Faith in Action coordinates volunteer services, from a chore service to friendly visits, to help older adults and people with disabilities, long-term health needs or difficult life circumstances to remain living independently. VINE also administers the Summit Center program for seniors. The Welcome Inn provides for people without shelter. Theresa House is an interdenominational Christian ministry, providing emergency shelter and short term transitional housing to families and single women, assistance in meeting basic needs and accessing social services, with special attentiveness to refugees and immigrants. The fall Nutshell musical is held at CTK to raise funds for Theresa House and the Welcome Inn. CADA, the Committee Against Domestic Abuse, also provides services to victims of domestic abuse. Open Door Health Center provides medical and dental care for the uninsured and underinsured. Weavers, provided by Immanuel-St.Joseph Hospital, is a support group for surviving spouses (over 60 years of age) of cancer patients. Contact ISJ Hospital for further information. Lutheran World Relief is an umbrella organization of Lutheran churches (ELCA, LCMS, WELS, and others) providing aid to needy people throughout the world. LWR is also involved in the Fair Trade Project, which provides income to subsistence farmers in many countries by buying and reselling coffee, chocolate, and other commodities at fair prices. CTK uses Fair Trade coffee for Sunday fellowship, and fair traded coffee (whole beans or ground, regular or decaffeinated, and several flavors), chocolate bars and cocoa mix are also available in the office for purchase. ELCA Disaster Response is the organization within the ELCA that coordinates efforts to help victims of any kind of disaster. The other agencies have links--please visit their websites for more information. |

Other areas of outreach |

|
| International Cooperating Ministries is an organization that helps to build houses of worship in countries and areas where the population lives in poverty or oppression. CTK has been involved in projects for building two churches thus far, one in Zimbabwe and one in Southeast Asia.
CADA, the Committee Against Domestic Abuse, provides shelter for victims of domestic abuse. The number listed is the hotline. The Fair Trade project purchases commodities and handcrafted goods from producers at prices that allow subsistence farmers and craft workers to earn a more equitable return on their products. For a link to a PDF™ file of the Lutheran World Relief journal explaining the Fair Trade concept in more detail, please click here.[You will need the free Adobe Reader ™ to read this file.] There is Free Trade coffee (whole bean or ground) and other Fair Trade items, such as hot chocolate mix and chocolate bars, available for purchase in the church office. These items are also for sale in the narthex on the first weekend of the month. |

The Latin American Lutheran Mission is an independent program focused on proclaiming the Gospel in Mexico. In October 2004, CTK members went to Mexico to help at a mission church. Here is a page of photographs from that trip.
The Open Door Health Center is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide care to uninsured and under-insured people in southern Minnesota. It's listed twice on this page; once, under human needs, for those who need its services. The ongoing outreach link is to the donations page. The summer Nutshell musical program is held at CTK as part of Open Door Health Center's fundraising efforts.
The Yarnworks Project is an ongoing effort by many knitters of the congregation to knit prayer shawls, an aid to people who pray (the shawl signifies that the wearer is taking time to pray) and as a means of comfort to the afflicted. Please contact the church office for more information. The knitters meet once per month, and experienced knitters are available to help.
Quilters meet regularly, one Wednesday per month, to create quilts that are given to Lutheran World Relief for distribution to the needy in many parts of the world. The quilts are given to people who may have no other shelter. Please call the church office if you'd like to become involved in this worldwide ministry.
Quilting is enjoyable, and extraordinarily beneficial to so many. Please come and quilt--if you can't come, we can use material for making quilts. Please call the church office for more information.
